On January 12, 2026, the seminar “NOMAD: A Platform for Research Data Management in Materials Science” will take place. The seminar is a joint initiative of the CRC Microplastics, the CRC MultiTrans, and the COIN graduate program and is aimed at doctoral students and researchers from all participating projects.

In his presentation, Dr. Ahmed Mansour from the FAIRmat consortium will introduce the integrated, community-driven open-source platform NOMAD, a research data platform for materials science. NOMAD transforms heterogeneous computational and experimental data into FAIR, reusable scientific knowledge. The platform supports the entire data lifecycle through FAIR-compliant data storage, rich structured metadata, powerful search functions, and integrated analysis tools within a single, extensible environment.
