Image: Lena M. LipkaDoctoral researcher and COIN member Lena M. Lipka from the University of Bayreuth participated in the 28th Spring Symposium of the Young Chemists’ Forum (JCF), held in Cologne under the motto “Colorful Chemistry.” During the event, she presented her latest research results from the project B1, “Development of copolymer libraries and characterization databases using a Design of Experiments (DoE) approach for polymer synthesis,” in the form of a poster. With her presentation, she impressed the jury and won one of the awards for best poster presentation. The award was provided by the European Young Chemists’ Network (EYCN).
Her research focuses on the systematic development of a library of functional polymers that exhibit thermo- and pH-responsive behavior. These polymers are comprehensively characterized, with particular emphasis on analyzing the relationships between molecular structure and physicochemical properties. The resulting data are used to optimize these properties through modern machine learning approaches and to efficiently expand the copolymer library.
